(More customer reviews)I have this set up on my well pump to keep the pump cycles down (it pumps into a gravity feed storage tank). Instructions are a little sparse, but I got it right on my first attempt, so must be reasonably clear.
Manual/off/timer switch is good. Timer wheel easy to set and I like that you can't lose the pins.
I had previously (mistakingly) bought a 59396 30-Amp Timer without noting the "SPST" notation. To be honest I'm not sure who needs a 30 AMP single pole switch. But this one (DPST) works fine.

(More customer reviews)These switches are a great way to put a night light in areas where an outlet isn't available, like a stairwell, and also for a more streamlined look than a plug-in night light. They are bright and illuminate areas very well. Probably too bright for a bedroom; although the outlet model would probably be ok there, since the installation would be below eye level. One note: these require hot, neutral and ground wire connections to be available.

The component did what it was supposed to -- it added another bulb to the existing socket. HOWEVER, the chain on the adapter needs to be pulled a couple times before it turns on. It's like as if it was a multi-stage switch that only pulls on after the third pull, and off at the fourth.
I don't really have a problem with this, as it's in my basement, but it is a little something which I thought I'd mention in my review.

(More customer reviews)I love these bulbs. I can't find them anywhere locally only online and at amazon. When I turn these lights on they take about a minute or so to reach full brightness but wow they light the whole yard up - it is so bright it brings the sunlight out in my small yard. I also have these in the front yard that come on from dusk to dawn so about 12 hr. day these lights are on and after 1 year of use they have yet to burn out. These lights definetly put out between 100w-120w of light and use only 23w of electricity. I would definetly buy again & recommend to friends.

It operates a single on/off cycle during a 24-hour period, which is adjustable, requires 230 volts for operation and switches both poles (hot wires). My original timer finally expired after more than 30 years of use, so I bought this replacement from Amazon, which was less expensive than buying one from my local electrical distributor.
Fortunately, this new mechanism fits and snaps right into the old Intermatic housing. For those who just need to replace the functional parts, this greatly simplifies the installation. Amazon's price for the entire timer assembly including the metal housing was less than others charge for just the mechanism itsef.
It was shipped promptly, arrived undamaged and at a good price.

(More customer reviews)The best home automation upgrade you can make is to install these on your bathroom fans. The timer never forgets to turn off the fan. The real energy savings is that you do not needlessly blow a bunch of heated or cooled air out of your house.
After 11 years, the buttons on my most heavily used unit started to fall off. This is because each button is held on by four extremely thin and brittle fingers. I'm a bit miffed that I have to replace the entire unit just for this. Hopefully in the past decade Leviton has corrected this weakness in the design.
Here are my recommendations for these units:
* In new construction, install deep junction boxes everywhere so that if you decide to install bulky controls like this timer, they'll fit
* Install only units that can handle "inductive load", like the LTB models. This means they can control motors and fluorescent lighting. Lighting options are changing these days, so don't limit yourself to "incandescent only".
* Install 30 minute LTB30-1LZ or 15 minute LTB15-1LZ timers for half bathrooms. That's plenty of time to evacuate a small room of noxious odors.
* Install 60 minute LTB60-1LZ timers for full baths. The extra time is needed to clear out all the moisture, and you can always choose less time.
* In the garage I use a 2 hour LTB02-1LZ timer for the lights over the cars and laundry
* For the lights over my workbench where I am engaged for longer periods of time, I use a 12 hour LTB12-1LZ timer

(More customer reviews)Easy to put on a wall, easy to hook up, doesn't make a sound. Important, when you take the insides out to mount, this is done by depressing the spring clip on top, and lift and pull out. Reassembly is reverse, but you have to make sure the side/bottom edges are behind the stops. If your not back and down all the way, the insides will seem loose and the timer will/could make noise, has you may read about in other reviews.
Our timer has not been mounted and running long enough to figure the savings, ours is set to run two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. Our water heater, stays hot all day, every time we use water we got hot water all day and night when it is off mode. I am sure this will show great savings!!

Intermatic WH21 Electric Water Heater Timer Review

This product is easy to install if you know what you are doing.
You should have some background in electrical ampacity and wiring basics.
I did have to purchase an additional pigtail.(flex tubing with 3 #10 color coded wires, and 1/2 connectors on each end about 5 feet total length)
The heater had the wiring flex tubing direct from the wall to the top of the heater. The additional material was about 10.75 at the local hardware store.
I unhooked the wiring from the heater and wired it to the timer, then wired the new pigtail to where I had disconnected the original wires.
The timer has knockouts on the bottom for either 1/2 or 3/4 inch connectors so if it will accomodate either one. You most likely will have 1/2" connections.
Make sure you turn off the breaker before you start.
The entire process took about an hour total.
The instructions that come with the timer aren't that great, so if you don't know what you are doing, it won't help much.
The timer comes with 3 sets of on/off clips so you can time it on and off 3 times.
We set it at on at 5 am, off at 8 am, then on at 8 pm off at 10 pm.
So the timer is on 5 hours a day and off 19.
We figgure we will save around 25 dollars a month off the electric bill.
So... it will take at least 2 months to pay for the timer and other materials we bought. If you pay someone to install it, it will take much longer to pay for itself.
So far, it is working properly and so I am satisfied.

I bought this to control a ceiling fan in my bathroom and it caused it to buzz/humm. It was very annoying and unacceptable. The fan is a standard type of 3 speed fan with a pull chain, not the electronic speed/remote control type.
I ended up buying an Intermatic brand switch that has the rotary knob and it works perfect.

(More customer reviews)I have been an electrician for 30 years. I installed 8 of these timers in my own house 5 years ago. Given that I installed them correctly they have worked wonderfully. I have never had one lockup on me. However, I have had 5 fail because the buttons broke off. They appear to rely on a set of very small plastic tabs that retain them against the spring tension. I have found that a tab will break off causing the button to hang crooked then eventually another tab will fail and the whole button will fall off. There is no way to repair short of total switch replacement as Leviton doesn't offer replacement buttons. The frequency of use certainly seems to be a factor as most of the failures are in the rooms most used. However, I think that they have a flawed design or material spec. problem. I recommend that you save your receipt for the warranty claim. Maybe they will get the message. I like the product just wish they would hold up better.

(More customer reviews)I installed this on my electric water heater. Programing is pretty straight forward and installation is not hard if you know basic 220 volt wiring. I'm saving around $30 per month in energy cost by automatically turning my water heater off overnight and while I'm not home. Couple this with real time energy pricing (if your utility provider offers it) and the savings go up from there. Intermatic has been around for a long time so you can trust the product. I've realized enough savings already that I convinced my parents to install this as well.
