(More customer reviews)Large plastic clip press-fits onto pole, contains 1 clip for light string and on opposite side 1 clip for gutter. Put light string into its side-clip, push pole up to gutter, place clip and light string onto gutter by pulling a string at the base of the pole, activating a spring loaded mechanism that opens the gutter-side clip. Release string. Then pull the pole out of the clip. I assume this is the procedure because there are no directions at all! I managed to get this to work but I have a small house, and I could practice on a lower gutter. Pros - no ladder required. Cons: Works on gutters only, not shingles, not the corner end of the gutter; plastic clip is complex 2-part system with a small spring, flimsy; small soft plastic square with self-adhesive were supposed to be on the gutter-side to prevent it from slipping - these were all over the inside of the box when I opened it - so I glued them back on myself. Another system attaches the clips 1st, then the lights, I will try these next time.
