(More customer reviews)I bought this yard light to mount where my old 175 watt Mercury Vapor light used to be. The old light burned out the ballast so it was time to change. This fixture replaced is my second Mercury Vapor and I did research to learn if there was something better, more modern.
I found out that High Pressure Sodium is better than Mercury Vapor but still has it's negatives mainly color of output and complexity.
The Regent folks claim 70% efficiency over my old fixture but I did not take amp draws to calculate while the old one was operable to compare.(I have no reason to doubt them however)
Mounting it was a little tricky as it has to be slid down on 2 sides in a grooved mount. This isn't so easy on a ladder 25 feet up in the air but it finally worked. The old light hinged shut like a door and enabled you to easily wire it etc. I suppose this unit, due to cost is made that way for that reason. It is made from all plastic and this is an advantage due to light weight if you climb as high as I did to mount the light.
The output is a very bright white and comparable to the old light in illumination. I wish that I could tell you how long a bulb life is in months or years but the new 65 watt bulb seems to not have a track record. All in all it will probably be a good value for the money, so far I'm pleased.
