(More customer reviews)I loved my old Lufkin "red end" folding rule and used it for decades, until it was stolen along with all my other tools. When I saw this, I got it immediately. It has all the advantages of a folding rule, plus it's plastic so it stays straight and is impervious to moisture. It lays out flat or stands on edge without help. The slide works neatly and stays in place. When new, it seems a little stiff, which is as it should be.
If you are not familiar with folding rules, get one. They do many measuring and layout jobs much faster and more easily than tape measures.
You can use it to:
quickly check inside or outside diagonals for squareness,
take rough angles for many cuts,
"measure, without measuring" by using the extension slide as a "story pole,"
pull actual dimensions directly from scale drawings, again as with a story pole,
get accurate inside length measurements for interior partitions, drawers, closets, raceways, etc.
instantly "Capture and hold" accurate measurements for repeated cuts, or variations
This is a versatile tool that is now better because it wont twist or warp with the weather.
It's a good idea made better.... Highly recommended!
