The first thing that went wrong was the plastic screw down mechanism that tightens down to keep the pole extension secure- it cracked after normal use. Next, the pruning blade started sticking into the cutting element and could only be retracted by bringing the pole back down to ground level and pulling it out with two hands - no doubt poor quality cast material or a slight warping of the blade from the normal stress of cutting. The final insult is that the red pull rope is starting to fray were it runs through the pulley wheel at the top of the pruner. Perhaps, I could live with all this if the saw blade wasn't so flexible and continues to get stuck in green limbs!
Update: I just got off the phone with Corona. I explained the pole pruner was slowly falling apart and was no longer a safe efficient tool. They told me that the lifetime warranty is only good for initial problems right after purchase- this not what it says on the packaging or the website. What a scam! I guess this should not surprise me since I notice that their products are now made in China and Mexico- countries that are infamous for their corruption, unsafe working conditions, and dishonest manufacturing facilities that cut corners on material specs and tolerances, as well as the safety of products. Shame on you if you are a member of a labor union and you buy or use Corona products!
