Although called a pharmacy lamp, this is my favorite type of lamp for reading while sitting in an easy chair. That's because it's so easy to move the entire lamp and position the relatively small lamp head height and angle precisely as needed. The lamp head stays parallel to the floor, but it can be rotated about 270 degrees, which is far more than required.
The base is sufficiently heavy to keep the lamp from tipping over; the lamp head raises/lowers easily and is secured by a large thumb screw; and it accepts up to a 100w incandescent bulb with a type A (standard) base. A larger incandescent bulb would fit, but then the lamp head would dangerously overheat, since the interior reflector is plastic. However, any compact florescent bulb that will fit can be used, such as a 13w or 23w. The height to the bottom of the lamp head is infinitely adjustable from 43" to 55".
Overall quality is very good, and although shipped in multiple parts, it screws together without any tools in only a few minutes. Good value as well.
