Easy Gardener Inc 6X18 Trellis Net 16387 Arbors Trellises & Poles Review

(More customer reviews)I have used ROSS GARDEN TRELLIS for a number of years for growing vegetables vertically in a high density edible garden. Inspired by the book All New Square Foot Gardening: Grow More in Less Space!, I raise my vegetables and herbs in raised garden beds sized 4x4 feet with plants spaced 1 foot apart growing vertically (tomatoes, cukes, peas, beans, and squash). I use wooden supports screwed into the outside of the box and staple on the ROSS GARDEN TRELLIS NETTING to affix it. Plants are then attached using velcro, plastic ties or pieces of old pantyhose.
These supports lasted six seasons at which point I moved and disassembled and discarded the trellis netting as it was damaged by us in the moving process. I am on year two with the new set of netting and all is well.
This is sturdier than what is sold as DEER or BIRD netting. These are all different products! Be sure to buy the product that will suit your needs!
As a comparison, one year I couldn't find a source for ROSS brand garden trellis netting that I wanted and settled and purchased a different brand (sorry packaging was thrown away) which was white plastic with openings about 4 or 5 inches apart (not one inch or smaller). The white netting is horrible and begins breaking in the first season. This second season areas are breaking that do not even have plants on them! It is just falling apart in the sunlight! That large netting is hard to fasten tightly to the support because there are fewer vertical plastic parts to staple to the supports, so some have slack and are not tight. Lastly those larger openings are not good for supporting the plants as there is not always a good spot to attach the plant to (too much open air). If I am to use plastic netting I want it to last multiple seasons!
Those looking for something more biodegradable may wish to stick to twine string in a natural substance and take the time to string it or buy pre-made biodegredable garden netting made of jute (but that has 6 inch openings which are too large for my needs) which I just discovered today via the Internet. ROSS GARDEN TRELLIS NETTING is really fast and convenient and suits my needs for smaller openings.
This is easily cut with scissors to fit the size you need. I need 4x4" so I buy it and trim it to size (it's fast and easy to do).
