(More customer reviews)From first seeing this lamp in one of the catalogs I got from Hammacher Schlemmer (HS), I thought this lamp looked very good. I had been looking for a pole lamp that had a movable head and a bright light for reading purposes. Normally I would look for reviews to confirm if the product is worth the money. However, coming from a name like HS, I figured the product would be quality. Upon receiving the lamp, I was impressed at its look, height and how much light it produced. However, that is where the good part of this product ends...
I set up the lamp, turned it on and enjoyed it. This lasted for one day when the bulb blew out. Thinking this might happen, I had ordered a replacement bulb. Maybe the initial bulb was bad? If so, then that bulb and the next two replacements were also bad. The three bulbs lasted less than 5 hours combined. This is nowhere near the claim on HS's website that each bulb lasts 10000 hours. This is even worse considering each bulb, which you can only buy from HS, costs $15. As a result, I was forced to return it.
I am posting this review, my first ever on Amazon, as a warning. The lamp looks good, but it lacks the most important feature a lamp needs, bulbs that work for more than 2-3 hours before failing.

Simulating the color fidelity of natural sunlight, the bulb has a correlated color temperature of 6,400º Kelvin that illuminates books, crafts, or computer screens with a distortion-free glow. The energy-efficient 55-watt bulb is equivalent to a 250-watt incandescent and lasts up to 10,000 hours--ten times longer than a typical bulb. The floor lamp has an adjustable neck and a four-way switch. The lampshade, neck, and base have an antique brass finish, and the eucalyptus wood pole has a cherry finish.
