I bought this to replace a Leviton PR180. The PR180 seemed to work on my 3 fluorescent lights (2 electronic ballasts, 1 magnetic), but then the bulbs started flickering and eventually went out.
The OSSNL went in with new bulbs and the difference was immediately noticeable. It was as if the lights were connected to a standard switch! Not a hint of buzzing. Definitely worth the extra money for this switch.
I was very impressed by the configuration options in this switch, and spent about an hour testing everything and getting it right. It's great!

Lowering my rating on this switch because now it is behaving strangely. The switch is installed in my garage and typically the lights are off when I open the garage door, then they turn on as soon as I step on the garage stairs. Recently I had noticed that the lights were on when I arrived home from work, and were on when I would first open the garage door. The switch was not turning off the lights after the 30 second timeout! I tried the manual on/off, and that would shut the lights off but they would not turn back on when I moved in front of the sensor. Even though nothing had changed with the switch configuration, it began functioning strictly as a manual on/manual off switch. As a final fix attempt I ended up flipping the circuit breaker that the switch was attached to, and now it appears to be working again. We'll see how long that lasts. Very strange and frustrating.

It seems this switch has now completely stopped functioning as a motion-sensing switch. Despite repeating my previous efforts, I was unable to get the lights to turn off in either auto or manual mode. Perhaps I got a lemon. I've uninstalled the switch and will be sending it to Leviton for a replacement under warranty. Hopefully the next switch does not have these problems.

Leviton sent me a new swtich approximately 2 weeks ago (so expect a 1-month turnaround if you send in a defective switch). So far it is working properly. I will update this review again later after the new switch has been installed for a longer period of time.

Well it's been two months since I installed the new switch, and it's still working properly. Seems I just got a lemon the first time.

The Leviton OSSNL-IDW Designer Occupancy Sensor Wall Switch with LED NightLight provides occupancy detection and a night light in one attractive wall switch. With the occupancy sensor, you'll get energy savings and increased safety, and with the night light, you'll get a comfortable, low level of light that helps guide you without activating general lighting.
Passive Infrared Technology Detects MotionThe OSSNL-IDW works via a passive infrared sensor to automatically switch lights on. The lights will remain on until no motion is detected and the preset wait time has expired--you can choose from among four time delay settings--30 seconds, 30 minutes, one hour, or two hours.
The occupancy sensor features a proprietary segmented Fresnel lens that provides optimum sensitivity and performance. Designed with an extensive "small-motion" area, the lens will detect even the slightest body movements within its horizontal 180-degree field of view.
For convenience, the sensor has two independently operating blinders that you can program to narrow the field of view (between 180 and 32 degrees) and prevent unwanted activation from traffic in adjacent space.
Push-Button Toggling Between On and Off ModesThe OSSNL-IDW features a push-button switch for manual selection of on and off modes. In 'on' mode, the lights will remain on in the presence of motion; in the absence of motion, the sensor unit will time-out and turn the lights off.
In 'off' mode, the lights will stay off regardless of motion detected, until the time-out expires. After the time-out expires, the lights will turn on (auto-on mode only) with the next detected motion. This feature is especially useful when you're making slide or film presentations.
Adjustable LED Night Light Guides You in the DarkIn addition to a motion sensor, the OSSNL-IDW features an LED NightLight. The NightLight operates separately from the lights that are controlled by the sensor, and it will turn on when its photocell detects ambient light that is less than one foot-candle. It will turn off when the ambient light exceeds five foot-candles.
The LED NightLight is adjustable for continuous mode or dimmed mode. In dimmed mode, the LED adjusts to five percent of full brightness after motion has not been detected for two minutes. You can choose the amount of illumination with a simple dial setting.
In continuous mode, the LED NightLight will go to full brightness (per your dial setting) when occupancy is detected and when the ambient light level is less than one foot-candle. It will return to the low setting when occupancy is no longer detected and the ambient light level is less than one foot-candle.
Ideal for Hospitals, Hotel Rooms, and MoreThe OSSNL is perfect for use in hospitality and health care facilities that have either auto or manual 'on' settings with adjustable time delays of 30 seconds to two hours.
It is also ideal for hotel rooms, conference rooms, class rooms, small offices, lounges, storage areas, bathrooms, and anywhere else you want automatic lighting control that will give you energy savings, improved safety, and convenience.
If you're looking to save energy, you'll be happy to know that the LED NightLight consumes less than one half of a watt while providing guide lighting when room lights are off.
Easy InstallationThe OSSNL-IDW is factory preset to deliver optimum performance in a wide variety of applications without any adjustments during installation. The unit can replace a single-pole wall switch mounted in a standard wall box, and it is gangable with other units. For further convenience, the unit features zero-crossing circuitry to enhance reliability and provide long-term operation. The OSSNL-IDW has a maximum coverage area of 1,200 square feet.
In order to operate, the OSSNL-IDW must have a neutral connection and must be properly grounded. Also, it should be positioned at least four feet away from HVAC registers. Note that when the unit is powered up, it will take approximately one minute to begin normal operation.
The OSSNL-IDW is UL and cUL listed and is NOM and CEC Title-24 Compliant. It is backed by a five-year limited warranty.
