(More customer reviews)I cannot praise this saw highly enough. If you have ever needed to cut roots when digging up a pesky privet grown into an ugly tree, or a volunteer walnut or maple that you don't want growing next to your fence, then you NEED this saw. I have used it on a dozen trees and shrubs when roots got in the way of digging it out. It is still as sharp as new, even though it has been cutting green wood with dirt, sand and rocks stuck to it.
I also own the Silky Hayauchi pole saw, and a Silky Master carpenter's saw, and all of these tools are of the very finest quality, and they are an absolute joy to use and even just to look at. I may already own 3 of Silky's fine saws, but I am sure to buy more of them!!

(More customer reviews)I had borrowed one of these saws from a neighbor and knew I had to have one of my own. I use it mainly for pruning small trees and it cuts through even 4 inch limbs easily, and requires less arm strengh to use than most pruning saws. I highly recomend it, but add a word of caution, it is very sharp and must be used with care, even brushing your skin creates a unwanted result!

(More customer reviews)On a volunteering event, I was introduced to this saw. I could only borrow it; even though after several uses, I wanted to take it home. I used the Silky Gomtaro for tree trimming at a park. The guy that recommended this particular brand to me, was working in the Tree Trimming department at our company. They have to trim trees year round. I refuse to buy an $8.00 handsaw when someone can purchase one of these....believe me, this will be the last you buy. Even though it's a bit more expensive, it is worth the quality of this saw. Not to mention, when trimming my own trees, I didn't have to work as hard as I would have with the cheap hand saw. The Silky, and I am sure ALL Silky saws cut like this one does. This is a decent size saw for taking down small to medium branches. I have had no issues, and I can attach it to my belt and climb with it without worrying about cutting myself. I recommend this saw to anyone.

(More customer reviews)The Ugly gets the job done. It's not what you'd call a precision tool, but you can't beat it for its intended purpose. I needed to make long rip cuts on the end of a dozen peeler cores (round 6" wood posts) to square the last 12" of the posts in order to lag-bolt them to the joists of a deck. Making half-depth crosscuts on large round stock, and especially making long rip cuts on large round stock without having to set up a jig or use a chainsaw, were perfect applications for this blade. The Ugly blade ate through the wood quickly and in a controllable/steerable manner.
Pruning: works great. If you put this blade in a cordless Sawzall you will cut much more wood per battery charge, compared to ordinary construction type recip saw blades. The deep gullets and fleam ground (2-way cut) teeth on The Ugly are why it works so well, just like an old fashioned bow saw. With the Ugly in my 18V DeWalt DW385 I can cut a lot of branches or do a lot of trailwork without the noise or weight of a chainsaw.

(More customer reviews)This folding pruning saw, Silky SUPER ACCEL 210 Large Teeth #119-21 has been very effective for my home-owner pruning tasks. I have a dozen or so trees (pin oak, red maple, american beech, black walnut, dogwood, sweetgum) and this saw has worked wonderfully on each one I've tried.
Now, I've only cut 20 or 30 branches with this, so I can't yet tell about the lifetime of the blade. It's certainly as sharp as ever right now.
Note that there are large- and small-tooth versions. Mine is the large-tooth for green wood.
Feels well made. Glad I got it!
