(More customer reviews)Watch out for this drill... I purchased most of the new M18 tools with extra batteries etc etc. and this particular drill broke the 2nd time I used it. I had the side handle on it and while using a hole saw it snapped a piece off the drill itself(the piece that holds the side handle on) the cheap pot metal drill casing/body broke right off . Now it cannot be used with a side handle and there is sharp metal on the body of the drill exposed..Not so "Nothing but Heavy duty"! In all my years of using cordless tools on jobs I have never seen anything like this, why they did not use the standard ring type side handle clamp is beyond me. Also the drill cuts out under load like the other reviewer mentioned and the battery life is no more than my Dewalt 18volt Ni-Cads. Back to Makita and Dewalt for me.

(More customer reviews)Bought this to cut rebar and not have to carry a torch. I had been using a 110v grinder plugged into a car inverter and pulling the cord around was a pain. Number 6 rebar with a 110v grinder cut through in about two minutes. With this at least 4 minutes and after about 5 cuts it needs a recharge. Also, overload light comes on all the time. It would be ok for light duty, but it is not a 'real' grinder. Guess I need to get a torch after all (cuts #6 in 30 seconds). It is expensive as convenience tool. Don't expect it to work hard all day.

(More customer reviews)This is a really handy saw to have around, especially if you already have Black & Decker 18V slide-style batteries. I also have the Black & Decker 18V string trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, jigsaw, and 2 drills, all of which I really like. It's nice to be able to use the same batteries for all my tools. Firestorm and Black & Decker 18V batteries are pretty much interchangeable, or at least the ones I have are. This recip saw does a good job cutting through tree limbs. I've used it to cut branches up to 4" in diameter, and it worked just fine. And it works well on 2x4's too.
You could buy a more powerful saw, but you would either have to deal with the inconvenience of the power cord, or the added expense of buying different batteries and charger if you went with the Dewalt for example. To buy a Dewalt 18V will run you $200.00 for a kit with a battery and charger. No thanks! I don't need to demolish buildings or cut through 1/8" think steel, so my Firestorm recip saw will do just fine.

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased the Milwaukee M18 Hammer/Drill/Driver mainly because of the Brand integrity but also because I was tired of carrying many extra batteries that ran out of juice too soon. This one surprised me, completely. I'm more of a weekend project warrior and this one completed many tasks that I normally would use my old Black & Decker in combination with an electric drill. I actually used this drill for 3 days before I broke out the second battery for the first time. And the available power and torque is amazing, far surpassing the capabilities of even my electric drill. One should note that two hands should be used when you know it will be a tough job because the torque of this lightweight monster could put a serious hurt on your wrist. Now I'm looking to replace ALL my cordless tools with the M18 Family. The M18 6.5 inch circular saw is next on my list. Yeah, they cost more than most of your average tools, but the benefits far outweigh and are totally worth it.

Black & Decker HPB18-OPE 18-Volt Slide Pack Battery For 18-Volt Outdoor Cordless Power Tools Review

(More customer reviews)Black and Decker has at least 7 versions of the Slide 18v battery pack. You have no guidance which is better than the other as B&D absolutely refuses to publish the ampere rating or number of contacts of any of them.
Battery identification is poor: Every battery I have seen is marked "244760-00." What good is that in identifying the battery? There are some molded-in numbers but B&D absolutely refuses to tell you what they mean.
On the blister pack for the HPB18-OPE you read "25% more power than the standard battery*" Finding the "*", it says "Compared to the HPB18." Both are the same price on Lowes shelves. B&D absolutely refuses to divulge how these two compare to each other or the FireStorm series.
A Factory Store manager has said two Firestorm versions were once better but have been downgraded this past 12-18 months and are usually worse than the HP18 units. B&D absolutely refuses to divulge any history of the FireStorm 18V batteries.
These batteries will connect to three types of chargers. One will charge the battery in 9 hours, another in 3 hours, and the last in 1 hour. Between the battery and charger combination, severely reduced battery life will result if the battery is left on the charger longer than 2 days. On another the degrade occurs only after 30 days. The third does not damage the battery in any length of time. You are left to guess which combination is optimum and which is a disaster. B&D absolutely refuses to divulge which is which.
I have many hours into trying to make heads or tails out of this, including several contacts on the phone, and e-mails with B&D, ditto plus in person at a factory store and factory repair station. The B&D Factory Stores and Repair Stations concur with my view that B&D is extremely arrogant, totally wrong in their attitude, and show no willingness to change.
