Hitachi W6VM 6.6 Amp Drywall Screwdriver Review

I love this screw gun! The only thing bad I have to say about it is the green cheap rubber graphics that is on it. It started falling off the first day I had it on a hot steel roof. This gun is in its 8th month of use. Wanted to wait to review it after I abuse the heck out of it. Most drywallers work indoors. I work outdoors in the midwest elements year round. I converted this screw gun to install 1/4" Hex Self Tapping sheet metal screws on pole barns. All you need is the right cone tip (call Hitachi CS) and a 2 9/16" (1/4") magnetic nut driver.
Image how many screws I have fired in with this in 8 months! Picture a 200' long by 80' wide pole barn and how many screws it takes. Two sides of the roof, walls, and some of the trim. The company I work for provides Dewalt 2300 rpm screw guns. Those guns made my forearm muscle hurt at the end of the day. After a couple hundred feet of wall steel off an extention ladder. The Hitachi's speed and torque of the gun sometimes is overkill but, my arm feels fine at the end of a 10-12 hour day.
1. Speed. My production has increased 10 fold. Keeping up with people who have been with the company 5+ years, in my first year.
2. Power. With torque to go through the sheet metal, hit a truss gusset/clip and go right into the wood with ease. Seen people struggle with the Dewalt and even damage the steel.
3. Fatigue. No more arm strain when extending my reach off a ladder. Its light weight and has great hand contours. Can be used right or left handed. The Hitachi does the work not you.
4. Endurance. Illinois weather is unpredictable. I have put the W6VM in every weather senario. Hot & Cold temps, snow, sleet, drizzle, mud, dirt, gravel, clay and sand terrains. Its been kicked, stepped on, and dropped. Locking the trigger and running it full bore up to 20 minutes at a time without unlocking. Never overheated or froze up. Motor hasn't skiped a beat or lost any power.
5. Flaws. The green rubber on it is a nice attempt to comfort my hand but, is cheap and not molded to the hard plastic of the gun. The depth setting cone is showing some wear now. I will probably have to replace it in the next year. But hey, for what its been through I can justify replacing 2 moving parts.
Last, the long cord is a nice feature. You'll free up an extention cord. On a 100' long roof I can usually get away with using one 25' extention cord.

Milwaukee 2602-22 M18 18-Volt Cordless 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill/Driver Kit Review

I recently purchased the Milwaukee M18 Hammer/Drill/Driver mainly because of the Brand integrity but also because I was tired of carrying many extra batteries that ran out of juice too soon. This one surprised me, completely. I'm more of a weekend project warrior and this one completed many tasks that I normally would use my old Black & Decker in combination with an electric drill. I actually used this drill for 3 days before I broke out the second battery for the first time. And the available power and torque is amazing, far surpassing the capabilities of even my electric drill. One should note that two hands should be used when you know it will be a tough job because the torque of this lightweight monster could put a serious hurt on your wrist. Now I'm looking to replace ALL my cordless tools with the M18 Family. The M18 6.5 inch circular saw is next on my list. Yeah, they cost more than most of your average tools, but the benefits far outweigh and are totally worth it.

M18 Lithium-Ion Power: Compact, Lightweight, and DependableCordless power frees you from the hassle of extension cords, but a cordless tool is only as reliable as its battery--that's where Milwaukee's M18 XC High-Capacity LITHIUM-ION batteries come in. Engineered to deliver torque, speed, and extended runtime, these batteries make use of Milwaukee's trademarked Digital Power Management technology to ensure long battery life. Additionally, overload protection, a temperature management system, and individual cell voltage monitoring guard your battery and your tools during tough jobs.
A convenient power gauge on each battery displays remaining runtime, and a second battery is included with the kit, so you never have to worry about running out of power in the middle of a task. Plus the M18 LITHIUM-ION battery charger is designed to recharge batteries in one hour or less.
