(More customer reviews)I use a string trimmer to clear the edges (around trees, fence, driveways, landscaping, etc.) before cutting the grass & was disappointed when my old trusty split-shaft Toro started to head south.
It was no fault of Toro trimmer, but more just the total hours of operation. Since purchasing our new home about 5 years ago, it'd been put to very heavy use trimming & tilling the yard into shape.
After looking at all of the pro line brands available at local dealers, I was leaning toward just getting another Toro. I'm so glad I stumbled on to this one at Amazon. The great reviews of the similar solid shaft Hitachi also hold true for this one.
I've used it twice & replacing the string is a breeze. The weight is balanced perfectly, very easy starting, & plenty of power. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design & the 7 year warranty for home use is just another big plus.
One thing nice thing I've noticed, compared to other models, is these ease of trimming near chain link fences. This one doesn't grab when getting close, like others & is probably due to a better clutch design.
I'm almost disappointed when I'm finished using it, because it's so comfortable to operate. I have no more of that annoying stiffness in the upper middle part of my back afterwards (thank you Hitachi).

(More customer reviews)Just got this product and used it to change a recessed floodlight from our 15 foot high angled ceiling. Worked like a charm using the suction-cup attachment. No problems, and replacing the new light was only a bit trickier but with some trial and error and gentle manipulation was able to get the bulb into the socket and twist it in with no problem. The pole is lightweight but reasonably sturdy and stable though I wouldn't go flipping it around or torquing the thing. As long as you tighten down the telescoping pole and take things slow I can't see how this device wouldn't do what its supposed to do. Given that using a ladder for tall jobs in the home isn't practical, this pretty much pays for itself as you would have to get a professional to change the bulb in such situations. While one person could do the job handily, if the pole is fully telescoped it might make handling it difficult for some people and having a helper may be a benefit. Only down side I can see is that in some circumstances certain people might have difficulty with controlling the pole when fully extended or twisting the pole to unscrew the bulb (for those with muscle problems or arthritis, for instance.) In that situation an automated option like a remote controlled device to twist the bulb out might be a plus. Otherwise, I highly recommend. Also, the pole can be used for dusting, window washing, squeegee attachments, etc.

Solar Lamp Post Light - Coach Light Review

(More customer reviews)The post for my gas lamp rusted out and I wanted to "go Green" and save some money on my gas bill with a solar powered model. I looked at other models online and was about to get the GamaSonic GS-94F for about $129. I noticed this model on Amazon for $119. I was able to pick one up that looks identical to this one at Menards for about $69! I got an 80" aluminum post ($29... on clearance for $2 at Lowes) and after some grunt work to remove the old cement embedded post, had the new post installed in fresh cement and plumb. The next morning I installed the lamp. (Be sure to turn it on!) It provides about as much light as my two mantel gas lantern, so I am very happy so far. Has 3 AA rechargeable batteries included (has space for 6?) Not sure about the bracket on the Amazon model, there was no such bracket in my box. The small set screws used to secure to the post barely had enough space to tighten so I drilled out and tapped 3 holes in the post and it is now very secure. One of the heads of the two screws holding the lid on was loose from the shaft. (Hence 4 and not 5 stars.) Not sure why Home Depot and Lowes do not carry solar post lamps. (They all have solar landscape lights.) Menards had three models to choose from in the "Enchanted Garden" brand. I would urge you to consider going solar! My neighbor will likely get one. He has his gas turned of to save $$, There should be a tax credit for this device!

(More customer reviews)I have been an electrician for 30 years. I installed 8 of these timers in my own house 5 years ago. Given that I installed them correctly they have worked wonderfully. I have never had one lockup on me. However, I have had 5 fail because the buttons broke off. They appear to rely on a set of very small plastic tabs that retain them against the spring tension. I have found that a tab will break off causing the button to hang crooked then eventually another tab will fail and the whole button will fall off. There is no way to repair short of total switch replacement as Leviton doesn't offer replacement buttons. The frequency of use certainly seems to be a factor as most of the failures are in the rooms most used. However, I think that they have a flawed design or material spec. problem. I recommend that you save your receipt for the warranty claim. Maybe they will get the message. I like the product just wish they would hold up better.

Rubbermaid 5G78 FastTrack Fishing Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I'm generally fond of all of my Rubbermaid garage organization gear. It's on the pricey side, but looks good and has solid construction throughout. The fishing rack holds 4 decently sized rods and holds them decently. Some thinner rods are not gripped by the upper rubber-foam holders very well, so they sort of flop around some, especially if you use it to carry them. That, however, is the nice bonus feature I really hadn't counted on. Once you have your fishing rods loaded up, you can pull the whole thing off the wall using the handle and toss them in your vehicle in one go. That's a surprisingly convenient feature when poles otherwise get tangled.
I give it a 3.5 overall due to the fact that it's not great at actually holding all size rods firmly. I think it could probably hold another couple of poles if it was redesigned, too. Still, it does what it advertises, does it decently, and the handle feature is a nice bonus. I'm rounding up to 4 stars.

Unger #92132 Flood Light Bulb Changer Review

(More customer reviews)This Unger floodlight bulb changer is well-made & a good concept, but has one big problem--it often doesn't hold the bulb, the bulb falls off while you're trying to balance it, & you end up with a cracked bulb. If you're working with a brand new bulb, it may work if the bulb surface is very clean. However, working with used bulbs (the bulb you're trying to replace), it's not likely to work. This suction type bulb changer often does not work if the bulb has dust or dirt on it. And after all, you're using this device to change bulbs that are in hard to reach places, which also makes it likely that you can't very well dust a high placed bulb (& if you live in a high humidity area, even a day's worth of dust quickly becomes caked onto the surface of the bulb). Outdoor bulbs become even dirtier, due to rain, dirt, & sap, & then they can't be grasped tightly by a suction type bulb changer. If you've had this problem, I recommend the Bayco light bulb changing kit, which is not the suction type; it's the "surround & clasp" type that is common to incandescent bulb changers (but is a wider diameter). So this does work in cases where the suction type of bulb changer doesn't work. I give this Unger bulb changer 2* because it may work in some cases where you have a very clean bulb that will allow the needed suction to take place.

Black & Decker HPB18 18-Volt Slide-Pack Battery Review

(More customer reviews)It is amazing how one becomes accustomed, over time, to less that great performance when one has nothing to compare it to. Two of my six (several years old) old batteries finally gave up the ghost and would not recharge. I use them on a cordless drill, pole-extension type chain saw and pole-extension type trimmer. I finally decided to start replacing them while the design was still available remembering the demise of the B&D Versa-Pack batteries. My batteries arrived very quickly. I had either never experienced or had totally forgotten what my equipment could do on new batteries. The model number was different but they were the batteries used by my tools. It took only one battery to do the job normally requiring two to three of the older ones and I still had the power and torque on my tools to continue on to the next project. They must've upgraded the cells in these new packs.
Were my old batteries ever this good? I just don't remember and don't think so, but I am, none the less, a very happy customer with these new ones.
