ZIPWALL 6-41877 12 Dust Barrier Review

The telescoping twist-lock poles are a dream to work with. This is particularly so when you use the poles for other things such as a 3rd and 4th hand when putting up 4 foot light fixtures, sheetrock, and even fold down attic stairs. In fact I use these poles for these things more than I do for dirt control.

SLP2 Features: -Each ZipWallSLP2 package contains two 12aluminum Spring Loaded poles (SLPs), and accessories. Use them to create a temporary dust barrier of any length in minutes without the use of tape, staples or ladders. That saves time and costly repairs to painted surfaces and will increase customer satisfaction. Consider this example: A 30 foot long 11 foot high barrier takes about 1 hour to build using conventional methods. With the ZipWallsystem, the same barrier can be completed by one person in under 5 minutes. . -The ZipWallDust Barrier System is patented and has many advantages over conventional methods. The twist-locking pole lets you raise the sheeting without a ladder. The non-skid, non-marking material at the top grabs the ceiling, while the non-skid GripDisk under the foot keeps the pole locked in position at the floor. Spring Loading lets you lift the pole to tuck the sheeting underneath for easy setup. It also maintains constant tension on the barrier, to compensate for movement at the ceiling or at the floor if the poles are bumped, or if there is a lot of air movement. . -All ZipWall poles are ideal for dropped ceilings. Spring Loading automatically adjusts the pole height to compensate for any movement of the grid during setup. Just place the poles so the tops push against the grid, then follow the grid until you ve contained the area.. -SLP poles extend from 4 feet 7 inches to 12 feet. They are clear anodized aluminum and weigh just 1.5lbs each. Poles should be placed every 8' to 10' or closer if there is a lot of air movement. A GripDisk under each pole secures the pole on smooth flooring like vinyl or wood. SLP poles can accept any plastic or cloth sheeting up to 8 mils thick and can support up to 110 lbs. These poles work with all ZipWall accessories including: Foam Rails, Side Clamps and self adhesive zippers and more.. Additional Information

I have been helping my mom remodel portions of her house since my dad's stroke. It's hard for us to hold items above our head for any length of time. I got this item thinking if it's no good, it's only a small price. It's great! We have been using it for months, even leaving things propped up overnight and have not had any problems with it. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a helping hand.

I have been doing some kitchen and house remodel so bought the 3rd hands to help hold various items (molding, light fixtures, dust barriers). the 3rd hands are a great tool, I have had some issues with creating a dust barrier with them since tap doesn't stick so well to plastic so after awhile parts of the barrier would leave a gap. When I saw these magnetic cap holders I figure for about $7 why not give them a try. they are excellent works just how describe, I liked them so much I went and bought another pair. If you have the 3rd had buy these you won't regret it.

ZipWall SC2 Side Clamp, 2-Pack

The side clamps with the 3 foot foam rails are an invaluable tool. They section off the side wall just like the foam rails used on top of the poles. I work in Emergency Medical Services, and we are required to section off our emergency site in less than minutes, so we use ZipWall poles, foam rails on the top of the poles, and the side clamps (the best value when you purcahse the side pack, with 6 rails and 6 clamps to take care of both your sides of the partition). There is also a Caution-tape Reel that snaps on to ZipWall poles that make an emergency site immediately confined, sectioned off, and safe. The Side Clamps and foam rails are the only way to go if you want to set up a professional, tight, literally instant wall.

ZipWall CB1 Carry Bag Review

ZipWall CB1 Carry Bag

Item is a lightweight canvas/vinyl construction, double-stitched, zippered, monogrammed carrying case made in China. PROS: It is very convenient to be able to store six ZIPWALL poles/accessories in one carrying case. The monogramming does help to quickly identify the product when setting up worksites. The full-length zipper makes it easy to quickly remove the contents. CONS: The carrying case should have been contructed of heavier fabric and stitching as it will be subjected to worksite abuse. The product was somewhat overpriced considering it is made in China.

For some reason, they do not want to provide many details about this product. So I'll fill in the blanks. The maximum weight limit is 70 pounds. The blue body is made out of steel. The top and bottom plates, and the squeeze handle are made out of plastic. There is a non-marring rubber pad on both the top and bottom plates. The plates swivel on a plastic ball joint. The total shipping weight is 13 pounds. Made in China. Overall I'm quite happy with it. The reason I gave it 4 stars is I'm not sure how long the plastic ball joints are going to last. Time will tell.

ZipWall FR2 Foam Rails, 2-Pack Review

ZipWall FR2 Foam Rails, 2-Pack
Average Reviews:

Have used the zip wall to know that it works as advertised in the promotions. Every time I have used it the customer has really been impressed that I actually have something to screen off the work area and it causes no damage to ceiling, floor, or walls. Takes a little while to set up but it saves a lot of clean up time by containing the mess.

If you need to create a dust-tight seal along ceilings or walls as part of a renovation or remodeling project, the ZipWall Foam Rails will do the job without damaging ceilings or walls. When used with the ZipWall Spring Loaded Poles or the ZipWall Side Clamps (each sold separately), these five-foot Foam Rails will help contain plaster dust, lead-paint dust, and other potentially harmful debris within the workspace.
Note: The FR2 package contains two five-foot long Foam Rails. These rails are also included as part of the ZipWall 4PL 4-Pack Plus Kit with Carry Bag, an ideal barrier system starter kit that can be used without Foam Rails on small jobs up to 30 linear feet or with Foam Rails on jobs up to 10 linear feet. For jobs up to 50 linear feet, the RLFP Facility Pack Kit with six 12-foot Poles, Caution Tape Reel System and Carry Bag is an ideal start to a barrier system (Foam Rails are not included in the RLFP and barrier material, such as plastic sheeting, must be purchased separately).
Never Use Tape, Staples, or Furring Strips AgainIdeal for contractors and home owners, ZipWall Foam Rails are part of the ZipWall Dust Barrier System, a unique system that lets you isolate and contain dusty sites under construction from occupied areas of a business or home.
Traditional methods of dust containment rely on tape, staples, glue, or furring strips to hold plastic sheeting against the ceiling and walls. These methods damage ceilings and walls, resulting in costly repairs. ZipWall Foam Rails prevent this costly damage by providing a tight seal with light pressure. What's more, they set up quickly so you can cut labor costs, and they work so well they reduce your cleanup time, saving you on labor again.
Not only do these rails eliminate costly repairs while reducing labor, they also help you meet stringent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lead-dust containment laws. And built to withstand the rigors of professional use, they meet strict ANSI (American National Standards Institute) certification requirements for quality.
Easy to Install and UseInstalling a ZipWall Barrier System couldn't be easier. The FR2 Foam Rails are designed to be used with all ZipWall Spring Loaded Poles or ZipWall Side Clamps (all sold separately). You start by creating a dust barrier with Spring Loaded Poles placed every eight to ten feet.
Once the barrier is up, you snap the Foam Rails onto additional poles and raise them into position, pressing the plastic sheeting tightly against the ceiling. Overlap the Foam Rails slightly, and you'll ensure a continuous dust-tight seal along the entire ceiling. The ZipWall Dust Barrier System is so easy to install, one person can set up a 30-foot barrier in a matter of minutes!
Ideal for Sealing off Commercial Job Sites or Rooms with Dropped CeilingsZipWall Foam Rails are ideal for dropped ceilings because you can place them directly on the grid. You can create a tight seal without pushing the ceiling tiles out of position.
An Easy Way to Create a Dust-Tight Seal Along the WallUse ZipWall Foam Rails and Side Clamps to seal any wall. Just attach a side clamp to a Foam Rail and place the assembly between the wall and the nearest spring loaded pole. The side clamp will push against the pole, forcing the Foam Rail against the plastic at the wall. In no time you'll have a dust-tight seal from floor to ceiling without tape, staples, glue, or furring strips.
Foam Rails Work with All ZipWall ProductsFoam Rails can be used with all ZipWall Spring Loaded Poles to seal the ceiling, as well as with ZipWall Side Clamps to seal the walls. For high ceiling jobs, consider the 20-foot KT20 poles. They are ideal for cathedral ceilings, high foyers, and stairwells, as well as commercial sites such as shopping malls, airports, transit stations, parking garages, movie theaters, and more.
Protect Children and Property from Lead-Dust ContaminationProviding a dust-tight seal around worksites is very important, especially when doing demolition or when renovating an older home that has lead paint. In fact, the EPA mandates that dust be contained when as little as six square feet of lead paint is disturbed in homes or facilities where there are children under six years old.
Go to www.epa.gov/lead to get details on the latest lead-safety rules and lead-safe work practices. New EPA laws are an important reason to keep a ZipWall Barrier System on hand.

I am a ceiling contractor and it is important to keep the dust inside our work space and not in other parts of the office areas. Also, we need to set up quick and not screw around trying to set up the visqueen. The Zip Pole is fast and easy and it does work just like they say.

With the ZipWall 12-foot Spring Loaded Poles, you can quickly and easily create a dust barrier to fit any workspace without damaging the walls or the ceiling. These professional-quality poles can handle plastic or cloth sheeting up to eight mils thick. Their height range can be adjusted from 53-inches to 12-feet.
Note: This package includes two 12-foot Spring Loaded Poles, two heads, two plates, two tethers, and two GripDisks. These components are also included as part of the ZipWall 4PL 4-Pack Plus Kit with Carry Bag, an ideal barrier system starter kit that can be used without Foam Rails on small jobs up to 30 linear feet or with Foam Rails on jobs up to 10 linear feet.

Patented Design for Easy, Damage-Proof InstallationWith the ZipWall Spring Loaded Poles, you don't need tape, staples, glue, furring strips, or ladders to create a secure dust barrier for your job site.

ZipWall's patented design features a twist-locking pole that lets you raise the sheeting without a ladder and spring loading inside the pole to keep the barrier under constant tension. Spring loading also lets you lift the pole to tuck the sheeting under it for easy setup and adjustments. You can even reposition the barrier with just a twist of the pole.

Each pole features a patented design that secures the sheeting to the top of the pole without tape, which lets you attach and raise the sheeting quickly and easily. The non-skid, non-marking material at the top of the pole grabs the ceiling, while the non-skid GripDisk keeps the foot of the pole locked in position. Each pole supports up to 110 pounds and can be used with barrier material up to eight mils thick.

Ideal for Use on Dropped Ceilings or When Running Negative/Positive Air PressureThe ZipWall Spring Loaded Poles are ideal for dropped ceilings because you can place them directly on the grid to create a tight seal without pushing the tiles out of position.

If you are renovating a clean room, hospital, or other space where negative or positive air pressure is required, the non-skid surface at the tops of the poles and non-skid GripDisks under the feet of the poles will keep the dust barrier securely in position.

Easy, One-Person Installation in Just a Few MinutesUsing old fashioned methods, a barrier 30 feet long and 10 feet high would take between one and three hours to erect. With the ZipWall Spring Loaded Poles, the same barrier can be installed in a matter of minutes, and the ZipWall Dust Barrier System won't come down unexpectedly or cause damage to finished surfaces, because tape, staples, glue, or furring strips are not needed.

Works with All ZipWall ProductsZipWall Spring Loaded Poles are the cornerstones of the ZipWall Dust Barrier System. Once you use them to create a dust barrier to contain your work site, chances are you will want to add to your system so you can tackle larger jobs. Consider the SLP6 with six 12-foot poles; the RLFP Facility Pack Kit with six 12-foot poles, Caution Tape Reel System, and Carry Bag; or the 4-Pack Plus Kit with four 12-foot poles, two Foam Rails, two Standard Zippers, and Carry Bag.

We couldn't believe how easy the ZipPole barrier was to set up. Went up in minutes and worked perfectly. My customers loved it because it made a great impression about how much we care about their business and it also has helped to get us other jobs. The ZipPole is perfect for my jobs that have ceiling heights up to 10' tall. I got the ZP 4-pack for $169, which is HALF THE PRICE of the original ZipWall 4-Pack Plus system. The good news is my ZipPoles work great with my other ZipWall gear (12' aluminum poles, 20' poles, foam rails, etc.) I just used everything on a house with a cathedral ceiling. Started with ZipPoles at the low end added the 12 footers and raised the barrier to the peak with my 20 footer. And it was easy.
ZipWall is great and it gets us fully set for EPA's new April regulations in plenty of time.

Fastcap 3HANDCPACK 3rd Hand Contractor Poles, 4-Pack Review

Fastcap 3HANDCPACK 3rd Hand Contractor Poles, 4-Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I, like many others liked the price. I own 8 Zip Wall poles and figured the 3rd Hand product would come in handy should I need more poles to create a barrier. I must state that my main reason for purchasing the 3rd Hand contractor pack was to aid me in a crown-molding job. I liked what I read about these units and it seemed like they would fit the bill with the square feet and all.
I will start by saying that the company must have had many complaints with the poles being used to put up plastic barriers. The box that mine came in show several different uses for the poles in line drawing form. The picture of the poles being used for plastic barriers was covered up suggesting the possibility that they received some grief from Zip Wall, or customers frustrated by the attempt to use them in place of Zip Walls.
Personally I find the 3rd hand product quite heavy and cumbersome to use for supporting plastic sheets. Especially when trying to get them up to 9 & ½ foot ceilings! I had to use duct tape to get the plastic that high. Second, after I jacked the pole up onto the main tee and moved onto the second pole, the first pole came crashing down behind me as I jacked the second pole a little too much causing loss of tension on the first. OK so the 3rd Hand failed to please me on plastic barriers on tall metal grid ceilings. Onto the next project.
For crown molding, the 3rd Hand is just that. They performed as expected. The slanting feet and square top plate kept the poles where I placed them. Laying the crown molding on top of the poles was a learning experience. When installing a 16' length of crown, you must place your ladder in the middle of the length so that you don't tip the center pole over or as in my first attempt, the 2 middle poles. Very noisy when they hit the floor. Once that lesson was behind me the rest of my 3rd Hand experience was non eventful.
Back to grid ceilings, the poles are nice for jacking up the grids to help in leveling and also holding fluorescent fixtures while replacing grid work on wall relocations. I also used all four poles to raise the ceiling enough to slide a completely dry walled section to a new location 4 feet away without getting hung up on the ceiling grid. Just had to be careful the all the poles had the same tension on them.
I agree with most other posters about the button problem. Very difficult to get them pushed in to raise or lower the pole. Raise the pole too high and you can't reach the jack handle. The solution there was to turn to pole upside down just to avoid readjustment with those button locks.
The weight of all four poles in the bag is amazingly heavy. 8 Zip Wall poles are half the weight and being all aluminum well balanced. The tension mechanism on the Zip Wall units is a pleasure to use over the 3rd Hand unit. In all fairness, Zip Wall poles are not very good to use for crown molding and too light to use for holding grid ceilings up. Each of these poles has their place. Used on a regular basis it is best to use what each one was designed for, or be aggravated by the lack of compatibility that each system exhibits.
I too have the same complaints about the storage bag being a few inches too small and lastly, would somebody please tell me what all the different bushings on the large plates are for? I'm still trying to figure out how the large feet attach. O NO! Not the directions!!! Still confused, I love my Zip Wall poles.

ZipWall ZipPole ZP4 Low Cost Spring Loaded Pole, 4-Pack Kit with Carry Bag Review

These ZipPoles seemed like a great idea, but I'm upset by the low build quality of one of the components - the slider pieces (head piece, according to Zipwall's website). I don't doubt that other people are breaking these pieces with regularity when you consider that they sell replacement "head" pieces on their website. Here is my experience.
I was locking in plastic sheeting in one of the slider pieces during the first use and the slider piece broke. The slider pieces which you use to secure the plastic (or other barrier) is not made very well and is susceptible to bending/breaking. I would advise you to use as thin of plastic sheeting as possible. I was only using 3 mil thick plastic sheeting and it managed to break on me. In my opinion, 3 mil is a reasonable plastic sheeting thickness. I would imagine that if these slider pieces make it through a single use, their likelihood of bending/breaking on the next use will be quite high. One of my slider pieces broke and another bent. The other two managed to make it through one use unscathed so that's 50% of the slider pieces making it through a single use without bending or breaking. That's a failing grade (much like the rating I've given this product).
What is extremely disappointing is that I ordered this set well in advance knowing that they *could be* useful for the floor refinishing/sanding that I am doing, but by the time I get around to using them for the first time, it has been just over 1 month (1 month and 2 days) since I bought them so they are ineligible for a return to Amazon. It is frustrating because all I expect is for them to send me a couple more of these poor quality slider pieces (which will also be likely to break in 1 or 2 uses). The poles themselves seem to be good quality so I was able to overcome my disappointment with the slider pieces to acknowledge this with an extra star.
Although these poles *could* get the job done effectively, I am very upset that I couldn't get the slider pieces through a single use without them bending/cracking on account of the thickness of 3mil plastic sheeting. On the flip side, if you use sheeting that is thinner (1 or 2 mil sheeting), you run a higher risk of the plastic tearing so you walk a fine line between having too thin plastic sheeting that will tear or breaking the slider pieces.
Right now, I am in the process of trying to contact the manufacturer of the ZipPoles for the replacement head pieces, and I hope they will be easy to deal with. I will follow up to advise everyone about how easy OR difficult it is to get replacement head pieces based on this 1-year warranty that they offer. My rating is biased because of the disappointing component (slider pieces) despite the rest of the set being of decent quality. If the head pieces were better quality, I could see giving this product a 4 or 5 star rating. In my opinion, a product is only as good as its weakest link, and in this case, the weakest link is the poorly made slider parts.

Winner of the Remodeling Show 2009 Best New Product Award The ZipPole product is made of steel for durability and strength. These poles can support up to 80 pounds each, and their height can be adjusted from 4' 2" to 10' 3". They can handle plastic or cloth sheeting up to eight mils thick. In fact, ZipPole products are the winner of the Remodeling Show 2009 Best New Product Award, and they have all the patented features of the original award-winning ZipWall Spring-Loaded Poles.
Ideal for a Wide Range of Construction ProjectsThis system is ideal for a wide variety of residential, commercial, and DIY projects that create dust or other potentially harmful debris. These projects include demolition, drywall work, plaster repairs, insulating walls and ceilings, sanding and painting, chimney work, kitchen and bath renovation, and more. Small and lightweight, the ZipPole Four-Pack is easy to handle and can fit in the trunk of a car.
Easy to Use, No-Damage InstallationZipWall systems remove the need for tape, staples, glue, furring strips, and ladders when creating a temporary dust barrier. This saves time and it eliminates costly repairs to finished surfaces.
Sheeting is securely attached at the top of the pole by sandwiching the material between the interlocking head and plate. The twist-locking telescoping pole lets you raise the sheeting quickly and easily without a ladder.
All ZipWall pole systems feature Spring Loading at the top. This lets you lift the pole to tuck the sheeting underneath for easy setup. It also maintains constant tension on the pole, compensating for movement at the ceiling or at the floor if the poles are bumped, or if there is a lot of air movement at the jobsite.
The ZipPole barrier system is locked in place with non-skid, non-marking pads at the top of each pole. These pads grab the ceiling like magic. The non-skid GripDisk keeps the foot of each pole and the sheeting locked in position at the floor.
Ideal for Dropped Ceilings or When Running Negative/Positive Air PressureThe ZipPole product is ideal for dropped ceilings. Just place the poles so the tops push against the grid. Then, follow the grid until you have created a barrier of desired size. Spring Loading keeps the barrier in position by automatically adjusting the pole height to compensate for any movement of the grid during setup.
If you are renovating a space where negative or positive air pressure is required, the non-skid pad at the top of the pole, the non-skid GripDisk under the foot of the pole, and internal Spring Loading will keep the ZipWall dust barrier securely in position.
Create a Doorway Easily with the Standard Self-Adhesive ZippersWith the two Standard Zippers included in the ZP4 kit, you can create a doorway anywhere in the plastic sheeting. Use one zipper for a simple doorway or place two zippers side by side to create a wide roll-up doorway. The wide doorway makes it easy to move equipment and building materials in and out yet still maintain a dust-tight seal when closed.
Easy, One-Person Installation in Just MinutesUsing old-fashioned methods, a barrier 30 feet long and 10 feet high would take between one and three hours to erect. With the ZipPole Spring-Loaded Poles, the same barrier can be installed in a matter of minutes.
Unlike barriers made with tape, staples, glue, or furring strips, this dust barrier system won't come down unexpectedly or cause damage to finished surfaces. Best of all, you can use a ZipWall dust barrier system again and again.
Works with Other ZipWall ProductsThe ZipPole Four-Pack gives you the complete framework for a 30-foot-long sealed workspace. All you need is a roll of plastic sheeting. If you want to enclose a larger space, purchase additional ZipPole Spring-Loaded Poles in the convenient the ZP2 Two-Pack.
This ZipPole product can be used with ZipWall's Tight Seal accessories, including Foam Rails, to create a continuous seal along the ceiling. It can be used with the ZipWall Side Pack to create a continuous seal along the walls. Doorways can easily be created with ZipWall's Heavy-Duty or Standard Zippers.
If you are working with ceilings over 10 feet tall, you can purchase ZipWall's original 12-foot Spring-Loaded Poles in the handy SLP2 Two-Pack, SLP6 Six-Pack, or Four-Pack Plus Convenience Pack. For cathedral or vaulted ceilings, or ceiling heights over 12 feet, you can also purchase ZipWall's 20-foot KT-20 Spring-Loaded Poles.
Protect Children and Property from Lead-Dust ContaminationProviding a dust-tight seal around worksites is very important, especially when doing demolition or when renovating an older home that has lead paint. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates that dust be contained when as little as six square feet of lead paint is disturbed in homes or facilities where there are children under six years old.
Go to www.epa.gov/lead to get details on the latest lead-safety rules and lead-safe work practices. New EPA laws are an important reason to keep a ZipWall Barrier System on hand.
