I am thrilled with how expensive it looks for what it cost. Some in store products I compared were almost 600.00 and not nearly as detailed. It was easy to install and it is BEAUTIFUL and really draws your attention the details of the lamp post. I just LOVE it!

(More customer reviews)With 3 60-watt bulbs, and a 150-watt 3-way bulb, this lamps puts out a lot of light - but you have lots of flexibility for lesser light if you want. The switch lets you use 1, 2 or 3 of the smaller bulbs, while a separate switch controls the 3-way bulb independently.
This is the second one of these I have bought - one for a friend's somewhat dark room in a retirement home, and now for a big room in our house that needs several lamps. This one does a great job of lighting it up, now that the days are short and it gets dark so early. I am using 3 compact fluorescent bulbs in place of the 60-watters - altho I stuck with a conventional 3-way, since I have had problems with the lifespans of 3-way CFL's. And I use a timer to turn it on and off automatically.
Anyway - an excellent lamp at a great price. What more can you ask for?

I like to read while eating and the minimal lighting provided at my facility during what are off-hours for most just won't do. The 20 LEDs don't provide lighting that's as evenly distributed as a single incandescent or fluorescent bulb would provide; for that reason it's not ideal for reading, but it is tolerable, and the compact size, light weight, cord-free convenience, and affordable cost combine to make me well-satisfied with this item.

(More customer reviews)The lamp is really secondary...it's nothing fancy, just pvc pipe really. Although as someone else noted, it's not really ugly, it's just not fancy.
But the bulb REALLY does help. I do a lot of reading and studying, and so far I have not experienced any eye fatigue. I just gave one to my mom as a pre-Christmas gift; she has had some eye problems and reads a lot and does crosswords, and she loved it from the get go.
So my recommendation is that since it's really the bulb you want, buy the cheapest lamp that you can, and I believe that this one is the most reasonably priced.

(More customer reviews)I couldn't tell from the photo, but the base is actually three parts that screw together. Only thing is, they don't screw together tightly, so the lamp leans quite a bit and doesn't stay straight. I would have returned it, but the styrofoam was in pieces and it was impossible to repackage. I'd like to try to super-glue the pieces in the base, but I'm afraid it'll stay in the leaning position.
