Triple Ski Rack Review

This rack is very well designed and solidly built, but unfortunately it was designed some 20 years ago when all skis were straight and narrow, and has never been changed. The widest ski which would fit into this rack must be under 70 mm at the tip. My narrowest downhill skis are wider than that, and I am not even talking about all-terrain or powder skis. A wider pair of skis would rest on the bent tip of the hooks, which may over the time damage the skis. One could perhaps use this rack for cross-country skis, but forget about it if you need a solution for downhill.
I bought it and had to return it cause it is useless.

Store three pair of skis and poles in one place with the PS-3R. Great for ski lockers and cabinets. Made of sturdy solid steel construction and a durable epoxy finish. No assembly required. Easy wall installation with provided hardware.

I had to take this down because it is worthless for downhill skis. I mean, if I have to buy stainless, strip-resistant screws, why pay $49? If I have to use a bungee cord to hold the skis in, why buy this rack? If I have to mount extra wood padding below the drill holes, and it still tilts downhard, why use this? As another reviewer has mentioned, this rack doesn't work for newer raised plates on downhill skis below the toe piece.
I do have this rack for *cross-country* skis at our mountain cabin, and it works fine, but for downhill it does not work, and I would not recommend buying it.
For downhill I would recommend a tip rack and that's what I eventually installed. Unfortunately I had already hammer-drilled and installed a lag bolt in our concrete garage wall to anchor the 2x4 for the Racor rack.

Because this rack is so narrow most modern skis don't fit well. Of the 8 pairs of skis we have only one fits easily into the rack. Fat skis are too wide and thick skis are to thick. The clearance is about and 1 1/4 wide, depth is about 110mm. If your skis match this profile then these should work well. BTW- very easy to mount and sturdy.
