ShelterLogic 10 x 15- Feet S T Popup Canopy, White Cover Review

ShelterLogic 10 x 15- Feet S T Popup Canopy, White Cover

After purchasing several canopies and gazebo's from Lowe's which did not survive any breaze over 10 mph or rain over one inch, I decided to purchase a canopy that could be partially disassembled if a storm is forcasted to come to my backyard.
The canopy itself does need more than two people to set up since most peoples' wing span is less than the width of the canopy. It takes two people to pull it apart plus one to hold the other side still. Once the canopy is fully extended, placing the cover over it is fairly simple once you have the corner seams in the corners and the top braces in the center of the cover. Deploying the four corner legs can be done with one person. Once you have it all together, the straps on the underside of the canopy can be secured to the frame. I gave it less than five stars for the difficulty of threading the polyester straps throug the plastic buckles. If the straps was just a couple of inches longer it would be a much easier excercise.
Report from the first "frog choker" rain we had last night. I had about three inches of rain on my pool cover and found that the corners of the cover pulled through the frame. The frame appeared to be bent, but I think that the frame is OK since what I think I witnessed was the "torgue" of the frame causing the legs to 'splay" outwards. Once I placed the corners back on the frame, the legs seemed to straighten back up again. The corners are lined with velcro as are the corner poles, so a nice fit is always there. I think that the unit will survive a gust of wind as long as its protected from strong, consistent winds from any direction (people from the breadbasket states take note. :)Overall I am satisfied with the construction and fit. I don't think that the unit can be placed in a unprotected area without some wind damage. It seems to handle rain although the makers might consider placing rivets in the canopy at strategic places to drain the collected rain water.

Mace 80115 MACE Big Jammer Door Brace Review

Mace 80115 MACE Big Jammer Door Brace
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It arrived today and is going back to Amazon for a refund tomorrow. It looks secure when you put it in place, and feels secure when you test it by pulling inward on the door handle, but test it by going outside pushing on the door and you will be shocked at how easy it is to defeat. The rubber ears on the doorknob end are too flexible and bend out of the way (to the side and down) when you push on the door allowing the door to be very easily opened. The entire top rubber assembly also flexed slightly to the side on the metal pole as it was defeated. It's secured to the end of the metal pole about as well one of those rubber erasers that slip on to the end of your pencil. What's worse is that because the thickest parts of the pole, the top ears and the bottom foot, are made of soft rubber they were silent and made no racket as I pushed on the door. Furthermore since no metal parts hit the floor when it fell to the ground it landed very quietly. The rubber ears are what impacted the floor as it fell to the floor after being defeated, the rubber foot was already on the ground as it fell. I got in the door silently in less than 5 seconds. The tap from a lock bump would be the loudest thing you would hear. Get a puppy from the pound and a 12 gauge instead and sleep well, it's well worth the $400 total initial investment + dog food. I do weigh 240#, but I didn't have to push hard at all to get in. A false sense of security thinking that you would hear some serious racket as this thing got defeated is worse than not having it at all. What I was using before I tried this, and what I will go back to using, was a chair with the legs sitting inside some rubber soled tennis shoes to keep the chair legs from slipping on the floor. Yes I could break the chair with a lot more effort than it took to defeat the MACE Big Jammer, but at least it would make some serious racket as it splintered, and with the door/chair contact being hard material it would also make some noise as I moved the door back and forth trying to get in.

Felknor Ventures TT101101 Tomato Tree Review

I bought 10 of these and even built a structure in my garden to hang them. I also set up automatic watering to them. I followed the instructions very carefully.
They absolutely do not work, and there is a simple reason.
By hanging the planter upside-down, water runs down the stem of the plant and collects right where the stem emerges from the planter. The stem ends up rotting from the pooling water, where in a normal planter it would go away from the plant and also feed the roots.
The plants end up convoluted and congested as they try to turn upward toward the sun. Essentially, the plants try to grow up into themselves and turn into a nasty knot of tangled growth. The planter itself also shields the plant from the sun, particularly when the plant is young.
I ended up hanging fishing weights from the ends of the branches to try to make them grow downward. Fruit was produced ultimately, but the fruits were undersized and subject to rotting from the water dripping down on them from above.
I imagine the company that makes these would say I over-watered, but I adjusted the water as carefully as I could, and still you just can't keep water from dripping down and give the plant enough water. I mean think about it--the roots are where the water is leaving as it drains. I'm willing to bet the roots were a mess as they tried to grow downward to seek the water that destroyed the stem, branches and fruit.
I would certainly not recommend these. If you're going to try them, try just one or two--don't bet your summer's veggies on them.

Master Lock 265DCCSEN Dual-Function Security Bar Review

Master Lock 265DCCSEN Dual-Function Security Bar

I read all the reviews before I tried this product. I am very concerned and picky shopper. I thought I would give this a try. I believe the key to this product is the flooring you are using this on. The foot on the lock works excellent on title or wood. I would not recommend this product on carpet.
One key point to remember...the farther away you have the base from the door the less strength it has. Try to get it between 70 degrees and 80 degrees. I was able to knock it out of place at 50 and 60. I normally do not worry about safety; however, I am a heavy sleeper. I can fend for myself but I have to hear it first. Let me know if you found this helpful!

Felknor Ventures 82506 Topsy Turvy Upside-Down Tomato Planter Review

This product works as advertised, my tomatoes are doing very well. However, it is VERY heavy when filled with dirt and watered. You need a sturdy hook and place to hang it. I was having problems with it drying out quickly (granted, I live in New Mexico, where it is quite dry) even though I had added water absorbing crystals to the soil. I ended up removing the top 6 inches of soil and placing a plastic milk jug in the top. I punched some holes in the bottom of the jug and I fill this with water nearly every day. The water then slowly seeps in to the soil instead of running out the bottom, dripping is reduced and the plant gets the water it needs. I would give it five stars if some system were in place to keep it from dripping so I could use it indoors and if it were a little easier to plant.
